Build A Bear - Cute Pumpkin

A couple of days ago, I was talking about the We CAN Stamp convention - and so I thought I would share a couple of projects over the next couple of days!

We CAN Stamp Convention

Alright - so a couple of weeks ago, I went out to Millet for our quarterly Stampin' Up! demonstrators meeting - in September, it's usually a bigger deal and we call it a convention.  We usually have a guest speaker, and some wicked projects.

This year - Linda Hansen came to speak to us!  She used to work at the Stampin' Up! head office, but she is still a demo who now travels to talk to several other demo groups in addition to holding her regular workshops.

Anyhow, she is truly amazing!  She's hilarious, down to earth, and genuinely caring.

She told us a funny story about her and her dog, Dietre.  One day, she needed to take Dieter to the vet to get him neutered.  So, she drops him off, and gives the receptionist her work number to call for when he is ready to be picked up.  She heads to work, and approximately 3 hours later, she receives a phone call.  "Hello?  Is this Linda?" "Yes." "I'm sorry, I don't know how to say this" and Linda thinks (oh no!) "Just say it".  The receptionist continues to say "I'm really really sorry, I just don't know how to say this."  And Linda says again "Just get it over with and say it!"  And finally, the receptionist says "I'm sorry, I don't know how to say his name."  It's "Dietre" and she continues "Oh okay, Dietre's surgery went well and you can pick him up anytime now".  Linda was a complete wreck, although, with a big sigh drove over to the vets.  She says to the receptionist "You should never ever call a client and start your sentence with I don't know how to say this!"

Can you imagine you she felt?  Now, I don't have a dog, but it's just common sense not to say something like that!

Last Club Project

Okay - here is the last super cute project my club ladies got to make Last Thursday.

Isn't this little treat cute?  I was finally able to get my hands on some test tubes!  So - I let my fab ladies make this cute treat.

Another Club Project

Isn't this card beautiful!  I did get the ladies at club to make this card, but it was inspired by one of my convention swaps!!  This card emphasizes on the embossing technique and I even used the Versamark Marker for the first time - it works beautifully!  

Supplies:  Crushed Curry CS, Pumpkin Pie CS, Basic Black CS, Black Kraft Ink, Pumpkin Pie Ink, Ruby Red Ink, Old Olive Ink and Always Artichoke Ink, Clear embossing powder, and black Gingham ribbon.

Stamp Club - Halloween Month

Wow - it's definitely been a crazy week..having been sick, and then my second class was on Tuesday night, cleaning Wednesday, and Club Night on Thursday!!  The third week of every month will be a little hectic while I'm in school! 

Anyways - here is one of the projects I planned for us at my monthly Club night!

This card uses the Sweet Centres Stamp Set, House of Haunts stamp set, Twick or Tweet Stamp Set, Basic Black CS, Whisper White CS, Pumpkin Pie CS, Cast-A-Spell DSP, Sweet Centres Treat Cups, Old Olive an Pumpkin Pie Ink.  This technique - trying to get the candies out of the treat cup without entirely massacre'ing the card is Mary Fish's technique of the slider trap door!  It's great!  Ads for a great little additive for a cute pull-out tab.  I did think of using foil so that one could punch the candy out - like a pill popper, but it wouldn't be re-useable, and it would still kind of look like I tore it....But - I will test that this week and see what it looks like after I've broken the seal.  There are a few more ideas I'd like to try out - but they may be a little more "gruesome"...so I will pre-warn you.

Life Update

So - as I've been mentioning in my last 2 posts that life has been extremely crazy...and they still are.  But - since I'm sick and in bed, but can no longer sleep, I decided to do a few things from bed...sleep being none of them.  So - I'm catching up on my blog posting as I lie here with hand sanitizer to keep my laptop sick-friendly!

My family has been stricken with some nasty things lately...some physical and some mental.  My baby niece has been diagnosed with a condition called Treacher Collins - something that is so rare, there aren't many support groups or anything.  It's a craniofacial disorder where she has no ears, has a complete cleft pallet, a small jaw, and excess skin under her eyes (causing them to droop a bit).  Needless to say, this is hard for our entire family, and unimaginably so for my sister.  She has so far had 2 surgeries in a matter of 3 weeks since being born.  And she will endure several more throughout her life.  But - she will definitely pull through and she will be amazing.  For the sake of keeping confidentiality and such - I will not be posting a photo of her...but trust me, she is beautiful.  So - I ask that you pray for her - pray of her well-being and of her health and that her family has even half the strength she has to undergo all of these things.  We definitely love her.

I myself have been going through things too - I'm not sure if it's just that I feel like I should be doing more, with my life and what I want to achieve.  Although - if you talk to the people I know, everyone must be wondering what else I even have time for right now!  I do work full-time, hold a few Stampin' Up! events a month, and now...I'm heading back to school!  I just started my Management Studies Diploma with a possible transfer to a Bachelor of Commerce!  I never thought I'd be going back to school...but I'm only able to do this part-time, so this will definitely take me a while to finish.  

Anyways - enough diary entry for today...here's a Stampin' Up! project I made for fun during this last month.  Enjoy!

This cute little set uses the Lots of Bots Stamp Set.  I made up this template, and really should have made a tutorial, but you always think of things you should have done after the fact, don't we?  

Anyways - it's a cute "get well" gift with kleenex, and some chicken noodle soup and cough drops - although, these are hiding underneath the soup packets.

I don't know who wouldn't be impressed with this - and it's even cuter to look at on your bed than a crummy regular kleenex box!  (Keep in mind you need travel kleenex packets that open from the top rather than the side)

Open House

Okay - so my Open House was a success.  By success I don't mean the number of people who came or by the amount of Stampin' Up! product I sold - it was a success because everyone who came had a lot of fun and are coming back for more.  I did not sell thousands like many other demos may - I did, however, make new friendships.  And - if I had more people than I did, I probably wouldn't have been able to spend time with every single person! 

So - here are a few projects that everyone got to make.  One of them is not posted because I gave away my sample and haven't had time to make another one for myself!  

This Sweet Treat was using Stampin' Up!s new Sweet Treat Centres Stamp Set, Sweet Treat cups, a craft lollipop stick, Old Olive CS, Elegant Eggplant CS, and a cute little Old Olive ribbon.  The jelly beans are "Jelly Bellies" - my fave.  Although, these orange ones aren't my favorite, my favorite is the pear ones...they even feel like the skin of a pair in your mouth!  Mmmm....

For this super cute card, we used Basic Black CS, Pumpkin Pie CS, Whisper White CS, the Haunting Hill Jumbo Wheel (Holiday Mini Catalogue), and the Twick or Tweet stamp set (Holiday Mini Catalogue) with a piece of Pumpkin Pie Striped Ribbon.  

I have started to head back to the wheeled projects - they're quick, easy, and effective!  Don't you think?

Whew - What a CRAZY Month!

Boy - do I ever feel terrible for not having posted in over a month!  I am so sorry!  Okay - so news... rather what's new?  Almost everything in my life has changed...every aspect you can think of, almost.

Returning from convention - I came back on a high.  I immediately planned a bunch of classes, my open house and am really trying hard to get some workshops under my belt again.  So - if you'd like to hold a workshop...even out of pity...I'll totally take it!  haha  But - I promise you this - you'll love every project I how you!  

So - here are a few of my favorite photos from Convention!  A few great highlights?

1.  My cousin, Kim, got chosen to do a video tutorial for the Stampin' Up! Website as a "You CREW"!  I was overly giddy - and it wasn't even for me!  I wouldn't be able to do it - I'd just be too excited!  So - the first photo is of her doing her video!  

2.  I got to see Cathy again - a great friend.  I wouldn't know what I would have done without her.  We all had great food, we planned some shoebox swaps - which were soo awesome!, and we spent some time a the spa too!  All three of us truly had a great time!  Hopefully I can go next year...it may have to be the year after who knows!

3. Convention Swaps - The swaps were truly amazing this year!  I was a little weary at first because last year - I was a tad bit disappointed, but...this year was fantastic!  Great job ladies - you truly are amazing!  

4. Gardner Village - It's the most amazing shopping area.  They had the cutest little boutiques with great finds!  I have fallen in love with antiques - and quilts - all over again!
